“Podcasting gets little respect from traditional media. To them we’re little more than a joke, than amateurs. What they don’t understand is that podcasting is more than just a delivery mechanism - it’s a social movement. People are sick of the watered-down, cookie-cutter content that networks and record companies expect us to enjoy. People are tired of watching friends and loved ones get sued by record labels who only care about profits and nothing else, not even the artists they supposedly represent.

We want and deserve more. On March 22, 2007, we’re going to change that with your help.

We can do better. We can match and exceed the reach of big media, corporate media, labels, and the entrenched interests. On March 22nd, we are going to take an indie podsafe music artist to number one on the iTunes singles charts as a demonstration of our reach to Main Street and our purchasing power to Wall Street. The track we’ve chosen is “Mine Again” by the band Black Lab. A band that was dropped from not just one, but two major record labels (Geffen and Sony/Epic) and in the process forced them to fight to get their own music back. We picked them because making them number one, even for just one day, will remind the RIAA record labels of what they turned their backs on - and who they ignore at their peril.”

I include a brief interview done by a PPN forum member with a protester who got sprayed with pepper spray and shoved around by police in Portland.

I found this blog while I was researching for my next podcast. It gives you a look at the Iraq war from the beginning to present. Altho I thought it was missing some things like war profiteering; it is a good quick look back that makes you realize how much we were lied to. After looking at this website I was sad thinking about how we had no justification to be in this war. I started to think about how we are starting to stop looking for Osama bin Laden; which I do not understand at all. I am a realist. I believe we need hard power as well as soft power to fix issues that effect us. I am a firm believer that we needed to use our military power, or hard power find Osama bin Laden, and punish him for 9/11. But instead we out sourced this job to war lords who let him get away. Thin he spider webbed his organization, so if we caught him his terrorist cell would live on. Instead of stopping the problem at the source we take our resources and attack Iraq. This is where soft power was in place political power, and guess what it was working just fine until we decided to use hard power, and over throw their government now we are in a mess. Right wingers say we are fighting them over there so we do not have to fight them over here. When I ask them why Afghanistan was not a good enough place to fight them. You know what they say? They say there is nothing there. I understanding what they are saying. They think if there was nothing to rebuild so they could have their no bid contracts. It was not worth it so we left Afghanistan hanging; we could have built that country up, caught Osama bin Laden, and stayed the corse in Afghanistan. But it just would not have been as profitable. I want to be wrong, but I just do not see it. Look at the highlights on this page also they outline even more issues that are affecting us.

George Lakoff, linguist at UC Berkeley, wrote a book a few years ago called “Don’t think of an elephant. Know your values and frame the debate.” You can download the book highlights pdf here. Do you ever wonder why Republicans repeat themselves so much? Lately, you’ve probably heard “cut and run” about 50 times a day. They do this for a reason - it embeds this in the mind of the public. Then, when Democrats and others dispute this and repeat the phrase, it further embeds the accusation in the minds of the public. In that respect, by repeating anything Republicans say, we are doing their work for them. That is covered in the beginning of Lakoff’s book. He goes on to talk about further examples of framing and how Republicans use language to change how we talk and what we talk about. Defense of Marriage Act is another example. No one’s marriage really needs defending, but the public now thinks there is a threat to marriage that doesn’t exist - because the Republicans keep repeating it. Some Democrats are on that train too, unfortunately. Check out the book, it’s only 36 pages long.

5. Edit Your Blog Posts Into Articles

One of the best methods for promoting your website is to write articles and submit them to article directories.
