After listening to Seymour Hersh the other night on Democracy Now, he made me realize something that should have been so obvious that I’m feeling pretty stupid at the moment. The Israeli / Lebanon “war” was an attempt to lay the ground work for the coming plan to take on Iran. I knew that part but failed to understand the direct strategic necessity as a prelude to war with Iran. I say attempt because the objective of taking out Hezbollah not only failed but actually strengthened them. Why was this first step so important to the US and especially Israel? Because when and if we take on Iran, Hezbollah will go ballistic (literally) and Israel will have it’s hands full with a threat right on it’s border. Israel would have liked to take care of this problem now instead of fighting a multi front war.
Now, because Hezbollah’s resistance proved once again that “shock and awe” from the skies is simply good for one thing, killing innocent civilians, the US and Israel must take the slower route to their objective, bring in “peacekeeping” troops and slowly disarm Hezbollah. But they will never disarm. So this means that if the US and Israel really want war with Iran then it will be even tougher now. And war with Iran could very well mean war in the entire region and World War 3 may not be too far behind that.
Of course, some unforseen “event” may be coming sooner than later to justify taking more military action. As the neocon plans fail they may become more desperate. And desperate men do desperate things.

Scary stuff, but it makes sense. If/when we go to war with Iran, the U.S. is really going to suffer, I’m sad to say. Iraq will seem like a day spa by comparison.
I heard a theory tonight on a podcast called “9-11 News” that there will be an October terrorist attack (perpetrated by guess who) and that will be it. Welcome martial law, goodbye democracy.
In even less cheery news . . . . Iraq is accusing IRAN of attacking (shelling) the Kurds in northern Iraq. You see, the plan in Lebanon backfired, Hezbollah became more popular, so now our puppets in Iraq are being useful as witnesses to Iranian bombing in their country. What possible reason would Iran starting shelling Kurds, along with Turkey?
Combine Iran’s alleged shelling in Iraq with another “event” and you have Republican victories at the polls in November and the war they wanted with Iran, advertised as a “gathering storm” or “liberating Iranians” or whatever fucked up reason they want to put out there and Americans will eat it up like, uh, …. chocolate cake.
Here is the Iran attacks Iraq article.
It’s like reading The Onion - silly and unbelievable.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Iran WAS shelling the Kurds because for quite awhile now The US military has been working with the Kurdish PKK on operations INSIDE Iran.
And Alex Jones predicting an October surprise is predictable in itself. Unfortunately he has a good chance of being right.
One thing we know for sure. They will try to pull something.
