It’s interesting to see how casualty counts are treated whenever the U.S. or Israel end up fighting with Arabs. As of July 17, in the latest Israeli-Lebanese crisis, around 170 Lebanese have been killed, as opposed to 24 Israelis. I can only assume that the 2 Israeli soldiers Hezbollah kidnapped will be worth many more dead Lebanese before this is over. But of course, it will be the dead Israelis who will get any of America’s sympathy or outrage.
We all know how many U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, as well we should (2,552 so far), but do we know how many Iraqis have died? As many as 43,575, according to www.iraqibodycount.org (and that’s just civilians). Everytime the Israelis killed dozens of innocent Palestinians since the beggining of the Second Intifada in 2000, it barely got any coverage in the mainstream media, much less any outrage.
Perhaps this is why Bush is so willing to kill Arabs and Muslims: their lives are just not valuable. Watch out, Syria and Iran.
This is really a coincidence but I just found this tonight when I was looking up something else:
http://www.ifamericansknew.org/index.html
Like you said, American media doesn’t report Arab deaths as much so it’s like they don’t happen.
And considering how touchy Israel is about their kidnapped soldiers:
“1 Israeli is being held prisoner by Palestinians, while 9,599 Palestinians are currently imprisoned by Israel.”
As of April 30, 2006
That’s one big reason the Palestinians supposedly harbor such violent thoughts against Israelis, yet when 2-3 Israelis are kidnapped, Israel starts a war. I also noticed on NBC news last night that they reported from Israel and reported mainly on how scared the Israelis were of the bombs that may or may not come their way. Not until I watched CNN International did I even see detailed pictures on TV of any bombed areas in Lebanon, but I may have missed what Fox News aired.
24 Israelis + 170 Lebanese + 2,552 US soldiers + 43,575 Iraquis = 46,321, divided in life, united in death at the hands of these violent, greedy sub-human, assholes.
It’s up to us to rid the world of these war criminals. If we wait for someone else to do it, it’s not going to happen.
There’s way more of us than them. And we’re smarter than they are. They don’t even know what it means to be human.
So let’s start making THEM uncomfortable.
(So figure out how to do that and get back to me, Bill.)
Brian
Oh, I know how they could be made uncomfortable, but it’s probably not the kind of stuff I’d care to discuss in a public forum.
